My girls' next performance is next week, for a Pep Rally/ Luau on the day of homecoming. They are twirling regular baton and fire baton to Wipe Out! They are wearing tank tops and Hawaiian skirts.
In two weeks they are Twirling at the 50's day Pep Rally to Let's Twist Again, by Chubby Checker. They are wearing white shirts and Poodle Skirts.

A pep rally is an event where the entire student body (all students that attend your school) gather in one big auditorium. They yell cheers, have short contests, and watch performances by the school's twirlers, cheerleaders, dance teams, etc. All of this is focused on getting the featured team (in the US: Football or Basketball) psyched up and ready for a big game. They are fun! The cheerleaders or pep squad are usually in charge of the "show".
