Involving the girls with school events is great! I had 4 high school twirlers this year twirl fire at both the "burning of the LJ" and at the last home football game. The burning of the LJ is a "pep rally" on the Thursday night prior to homecoming game on Friday. They light a big LJ (stands for La Junta, our city name) on fire and do cheers and such, the band plays and it is a lot of fun. The girls lit their batons off of the LJ which was pretty cool!
We are also extremely excited that we will have 11 twirlers traveling to the Liberty Bowl game in Memphis, TN to perform in the half time show on New Years Eve. Coming from an extremely small rural town in Southern Colorado, this is a great accomplishment for these young ladies. As their coach I am extremely proud of them!
Watch for them on ESPN, December 31st, Liberty Bowl!
