Hey Everyone, Has anyone started competing yet? Bethany's first comp. is Feb. 7th. We are excited.I thought maybe we could post how we did on the board or any neat tricks that you saw. Just trying to get some messages going if you have any other ideas please post them. This is a great place for twirlers to share ideas and I hate to see it not being used. Kim

My students started competing in September. They have been doing 1 or 2 contests per month. We usually have to drive about 1 hour to each contest. How far do you guys have to drive?

We live in Comer, Ga. It is about 20 min. from Athens and most of the competitions that we attend are in south GA. It usually takes us from 2 1/2 to 4 hours to get to a comp. How many students do you have? My daughter and I teach 7 little ones 3,4 and5 year olds to help pay for her twirling and the gym we use. She takes lessons from one of UGA's past feature twirlers and this will be her second year competing. She was novice last year and will be beginning this year.

The number of students I teach varies throughout the year, but it is usually between 40 and 50. I teach baton as an alternate to regular P.E. for girls from Kindergarten to 12th grade at a private school.

Hey everyone, I'm so excited, Bethany went to her first comp of the year this weekend. She won her first beginning title and her first show twirl. She was so proud of herself and finally realizes that the hard work will pay off. I hope everyone else is having a great competition season. Kim

Hey Kimdawg, my daughter and I also teach a group of about 20 younger students ages 4 through 11 to help pay for Maggie's twirling expenses---competitions etc. We live in West Tennessee and except for her going to the occasional clinic or camp at UTKnoxville which is excellent we don't have access to alot of top instruction. I try to work with her and my younger daughter Calee who is 7 as best as I can. Maggie competes advanced NBTA 10-12 and Calee competes beginner NBTA 7-9. They both also compete DMA which they really like and because of their advancement proceedures, Maggie is allowed to compete in beginner 11-12. This is nice for her because most of her wins counting for advancement in NBTA came against no competition. We are getting ready to go to DMA nationals for the first time ever in about a week and are really excited. Best of luck to your daugter as well!
