I've seen some majorettes/twirlers with whistles around their necks, when they're leading their groups (either at football halftime shows or at parades).
So, even though some majorettes/twirlers are seen with whistles around their necks, do they ever use them?

Thats a good question! I know that the people who lead the band and twirl that big over grown baton thing use whistles. I don't know about majorettes though.

In a marching band the drum major uses a whistle. Also in a baton & drum corps the head majorette uses a whistle. In both cases it is used to start & stop the music and also to begin routines. Different rythems of the whistle did different commands.
