Well, I'm sorry to say, but if you want to post a picture on this site, it has to already be on the internet somewhere. You can't upload a picture from your computer. ____________________________________________
If you have a picture you would like to see on this site, but it's on your computer and not on the internet, please email it to me. If you email your picture, I will put it on some page out in cyberspace, so I can post it on this site. I'm going to create a page especially for our pictures that we want to link to this site.
If you have a picture online that you would like to post, this is how you do it.
Put this code in your text box where you post your message.
[ img]http://yourpage.com/yourimage.gif/[ /img]
Where it says "your page", type the page's address that the picture is on. Where it says "your image.gif" type the name of the image you want to post.
You can find the exact address of your picture by right clicking on it. Then click "Properties". A box will appear that shows the exact address(URL) of the picture you want to post.
IMPORTANT!
You may only use images that you have permission to use. Typing in the URL to someone else's images is stealing and can result in board deletion. Make sure you have permission before using anyone elses images!

If you post pictures the way you describe above, it will be "direct linking". I don't know if I like this way or not. I'll give you a hypothetical reason why:
Every web site has a limited amount of "bandwidth" they pay for each month. Some of this bandwidth is used every time a person views the site. In my case when a person views any part of intlspirit.com, some of my allotted bandwidth is used. By uploading graphics or pics from my web site, without saving them to your computer first, it's like copying and pasting a chunk of intlspirit.com on this forum. Everytime someone sees said graphics here, in this way, it actually uses some of intlspirit.com's bandwidth ($). All of this is without the benefit of the viewer seeing our site. In blunt business terms, it's using $ without a potential sale.
I explain all of this to you because we've had to deal with direct linking on other "High traffic" sites and it was a nightmare!
A suggestion may be to open a site where this forum's viewers can be directed to see pictures. Have all photo hyperlinks directed to that site. I think there are several hosts who offer FREE web pages. I.E. Yahoo? etc.
On the other hand, if the picture is located on a website that is owned by the person posting it here, I don't have a problem with it. I just caution that the more views this site gets, the more their site will be charged.

You're correct! You should make sure to get permission to link a pic from someone elses site! If your linking stright from your own site, or have submitted a picture to me and its being linked from our "pictures" site, NO PROBLEM!
